The Law of Dharma – or Purpose in Life

Each of us has a special purpose in life. We all carry a unique gift or talent that nobody else can express in the same way. When we use this gift to serve others, we experience deep joy, fulfillment, and spiritual bliss – the highest goal of all goals.

“Work is love made visible,” said Kahlil Gibran. To work with love means to create with your heart, as if the result is meant for someone you love the most.

The Sanskrit word Dharma means “purpose in life.” The Law of Dharma says that we are here in physical form to fulfill a specific mission. At our core, we are spiritual beings, pure potential. When this spiritual essence takes human form, it does so to achieve a purpose.

This law tells us that everyone has:

A unique talent.

A unique way of expressing that talent.

There is something you can do better than anyone else in the world. At the same time, there are unique needs in the world that your gift can serve. When your talent meets the needs of others, abundance naturally flows into your life.

If children learn this truth early, it can change their lives. Deepak Chopra taught his children from a very young age not to worry about making money but instead to discover their purpose and how they could best serve humanity. Ironically, by focusing on service and their talents, they achieved success, independence, and fulfillment.

The Three Parts of the Law of Dharma

Discovering your Higher Self

We are not just humans with occasional spiritual experiences – we are spiritual beings having human experiences. Our first task is to realize our divine nature, to connect with the spirit within us.

Expressing our unique talents

Every person has a gift or talent that only they can bring into the world. When we use it, time seems to disappear, and we enter a timeless state of joy.

Serving others

The purpose of life is not only to use our gift but to use it in service to others. The guiding question is: “How can I help?” When we live this way, we move beyond the ego into the realm of spirit.

When we combine these three – realizing our true spiritual nature, expressing our unique gifts, and serving others – we unlock unlimited abundance and meaning in life.

How to Apply the Law of Dharma

To live according to this law, we can make three decisions:

Connect with the spirit within. Every day, spend time in silence, meditation, or self-reflection to remember who you really are beyond the ego.

List your unique talents. Write down what you love to do and what you do best. Notice how time disappears when you are engaged in these activities.

Ask: “How can I serve?” Each day, look for ways to use your gifts to help others. This simple shift from “What can I get?” to “What can I give?” opens the door to spiritual fulfillment and true success.

When your creative expression meets the needs of the world, wealth and abundance naturally flow. Life becomes a joyful expression of spirit, and success is no longer just material – it is the bliss of living your true purpose.

✨ This is the essence of the Law of Dharma:
Discover your divine nature, find your unique gift, use it to serve humanity, and abundance and joy will follow.
